'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the thrilling dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles following the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from distance, and his teammate promptly converted the deflection before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This capped an extraordinary recovery given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a upcoming match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right defensive wing after they changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs played positively.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has quickly done the same in Wales. At Orient he reunited with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without much intensity. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a long trip and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I felt I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to interact with the lads but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on London's Central line after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
